Faculty of Sports Sciences at Tanta University welcomed children participating in the activities of the Child University program under the theme “Children Scientists for a Better Future,” as part of the ongoing cooperation of the university with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.
The activities were held under patronage of Prof. Mohammed Hussein, President of Tanta University, and Prof. Mahmoud Salim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development. The program was supervised by Prof. Hany Sa’eed, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science, and Prof. Heba Rawhy, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. It also involved Prof. Samir Qamh, Program Coordinator of the University, and Prof. Ahmed Awad, the Program Coordinator of the Faculty.
For his part, Prof. Hany Sa’eed emphasized the faculty continued commitment to nurturing young talents in various sports, reinforcing the principle, “A Sound Mind Is in a Sound Body”. He noted that the program provides children with an integrated educational and sports experience, allowing them to explore different academic disciplines and learn through hands-on activities. This approach contributes to developing their skills and encouraging them to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.
In addition, Prof. Heba Rouhy stated that the faculty participation reflects its commitment to community service and its vital role in promoting sports culture. She explained that the activities were specifically designed to help children rediscover their physical abilities, under the supervision of specialists who conduct scientific physical assessments of the participants.
The activities were supervised by academic staff, assistant teaching, and students. The program included a welcoming session at the faculty theatre, an introductory tour of its facilities and sports fields, scientific physical assessments conducted inside the gymnastics hall, and training in basic sports skills designed to strengthen self-confidence, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
The initiative highlights the leading role of Tanta University, represented by its Faculty of Sports Science, in supporting young people and identifying talented children at an early stage of their education. The initiative is viewed as a strategic step towards developing future sports champions, strengthening Egypt’s soft power, and reinforcing its position on the international sporting stage.
